Meet the Facial Ageing Team

This site is led and medically reviewed by Tongchun Mao, MD, who is responsible for the medical content and for the observation that decides which contributor produced each line. The other three contribute what that assessment often needs: the surface and laser perspective with an honest account of downtime and pigment risk, the dermatologic diagnosis of a change that is not ageing, and the surgical view of a face whose real concern is volume and descent rather than lines.

Tongchun Mao

Tongchun Mao (毛彤春)

Deputy Director & Head of Aesthetic Surgery · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending · Lead Physician of This Site

Aesthetic surgery · facial ageing and expression · which contributor to treat

Dr. Tongchun Mao is an aesthetic surgeon at Chongqing West District Hospital, where he is Deputy Director and Head of Aesthetic Surgery in its Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center and the responsible physician for this site. He personally performs more than 700 operations a year, within hospital standards of assessment, anaesthesia and follow-up.

On this site his part is the observation that decides everything else: watching the face at rest and then in movement, and naming which contributor produced each line. Expression lines and static lines are answered by different things, and a plan built for one when the other is present is the commonest reason a patient concludes that nothing works. He is direct that no option on the ladder stops the underlying ageing, and that where the real concern is volume rather than lines, a surface treatment will not answer it.

Clinical focus

  • Assessment of lines at rest and in movement, and what each finding means
  • Separating expression lines, static lines and lost volume on the same face
  • The limits of muscle relaxation, volume replacement and resurfacing
  • When the honest answer is that nothing needs doing yet
  • Recognising the findings that belong with a physician rather than a cosmetic plan

One observation decides the plan

Watch the face for ten seconds without moving, then watch it smile and frown. A line that vanishes at rest is about muscle. A line that stays is about collagen, hydration or sun, and sometimes about volume. Those are not the same problem, and the treatments that answer them do not substitute for one another.

Shaoliang Wang

Shaoliang Wang (王韶亮)

Director, Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center · Vice Chief Physician, Associate Professor, Doctor of Medicine

Center leadership · surgical standards and complex assessment

Dr. Shaoliang Wang is Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. Within the team he provides the surgical perspective and the tertiary-hospital backstop — the assessment when an operation is the honest answer, and the hospital-level care for the rare complication that needs it.

Within this site his part is the face whose real concern is not lines but descent and volume loss, where the honest answer is a different conversation entirely, and the assessment of anything on the face that needs a physician’s eye rather than a cosmetic one.

Clinical focus

  • Center leadership and multidisciplinary case review
  • Surgical assessment when an operation is the honest answer to descent or excess skin
  • Hospital-based care for the rare complication that needs theatre-level management
Ke He

Ke He (何锞)

Deputy Director & Head of Skin & Laser Aesthetics · Attending Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Skin and laser aesthetics · resurfacing and pigment risk

Dr. Ke He is Deputy Director and head of skin and laser aesthetics within the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. Within the team her role is the device and injectable assessment, and the honest referral when a problem needs an operation rather than a needle.

Within this site her part is the static line and the surface texture around it: what a course of sessions can soften, how much downtime it costs, and how much pigment risk a given skin tone carries. She is also the person who says when the daily rungs are the whole answer.

Clinical focus

  • Device and injectable assessment before any treatment plan
  • Staged planning judged against standardised photographs
  • Honest referral when a problem needs an operation rather than a needle
Yongbo Jia

Yongbo Jia (贾勇波)

Deputy Director & Head of Dermatology · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Dermatology · skin quality, barrier and sun damage

Dr. Yongbo Jia is a dermatologist within the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. Within the team his role is medical skin assessment — diagnosing and managing pigment and barrier conditions, and treating skin that a device or an injection has irritated.

Within this site his part is the line that is not an ageing change at all: the rash, the patch, the dryness from a damaged barrier, and the widespread early wrinkling that needs a diagnosis rather than a cosmetic plan.

Clinical focus

  • Medical skin assessment behind injectable treatment plans
  • Diagnosis and management of pigment and barrier conditions
  • Dermatologic care of skin after irritation or a delayed reaction

Start with an assessment, not a package

Arrange a consultation. We will establish which contributor produced each line, explain what treatment can and cannot change for your face, and set out the options including doing nothing.
